SHA Coaching and Team Officials Requirements
If you are coaching or officiating this year, please check to make sure your requirements are up to date. The SHA requirements were revised in January, 2007 and there is a minimum coaching level required for the head and assistant coaches at each level of hockey. Please contact the Rec. office for this information.
In addition, for coaches who need Development I or II certification, the deadline is by Feb. 1 of the current season. For coaches who need HPI certification, the deadline is by Sept. 1 of the current season. All team officials registered (with the exception of stick boys/girls under the age of sixteen) must attend a Speak Out! workshop b y Feb. 1 of the current season.
At least one team official listed as a coach on a minor hockey team must attend a Bodychecking clinic by Feb.1 of the current season. (Female Minor coaches and Initiation coaches are exempt as long as no bodychecking is allowed in these divisions) This is also recommended at the Senior and Junior levels, but not mandatory.
To inquire about your coaching certification or about your coaches within your minor hockey association, please contact the Coordinator of Coaching Development at the SHA office at 789-5101 or by fax to 789-6112 or email Coordinator/Athlete/Coach Development.
