Emergency Response Plan

The Town of Moosomin is committed to the safety and well-being of our residents, businesses, and visitors. To help prepare for emergencies and ensure a coordinated response when incidents occur, the Town has established an Emergency Response Plan.

The Emergency Response Plan provides the framework for coordinated action during emergency situations by outlining roles, responsibilities, communication procedures, and response strategies. While no plan can prevent emergencies from occurring, it helps ensure a prompt and organized response to reduce the risk of injury, human suffering, property damage, and disruption to essential services.

The Town's appointed Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) Coordinator is Lyndon Jacobs, who works alongside local emergency services, regional partners, and provincial agencies to support emergency preparedness and response efforts.

Potential emergencies that could affect the Town of Moosomin include:

  • Railway accidents or derailments, including incidents involving dangerous goods

  • Highway accidents involving multiple vehicles or dangerous goods

  • Tornadoes and severe windstorms

  • Severe snow, ice, or rainstorms

  • Flooding and service disruptions

  • Major gas main breaks

  • Petrol, diesel, or propane tank fires

  • Extended power outages

  • Large residential or commercial fires

  • Chemical spills or contamination incidents

  • Nuclear emergencies

  • Institutional fires, including hospitals and care facilities

Public awareness and preparedness are essential components of emergency management. The Town is committed to informing residents about emergency procedures, including warning systems, evacuation processes, and other important safety information.
