Councillor Victor Santos Cardoza

About Victor

Victor was born in Honduras but was raised in Canada the majority of his life. Victor and his family; Lesi and Victor Sr. immigrated to Canada back in 2011 when he was only 7 to Toronto, ON. This is where his younger brother, Edward, was born and the family heard of the community of Moosomin and instantly fell in love with the small town. They decided to move to the community just 3 years later where they went through the process of obtaining both their Permanent Residency and Citizenship. Victor has attended both elementary and high school here in Moosomin where he obtained his high school diploma and shortly after started his Carpentry Apprenticeship with the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Program. He is apprenticing under Mario Z Construction, a local contracting company here in town where he is currently employed. This is where he is learning the trade and plans to obtain his Red Seal; with the aspirations of settling in Moosomin and establishing his very own business in the near future. In the short time he's been in Moosomin, he's made it his mission to get immersed and involved in his community as much as possible. He's been involved with many different groups and organizations within town such as the nonprofit organization of the Knights of Columbus and his Church at St. Mary's. He's also volunteered all around town where his help is needed, such as being a Head Coach for Minor Soccer for the Moosomin United Soccer Association along with many other sporting events and fundraisers. His most recent achievements include being named Moosomin's first ever Youth Town Councillor back in 2020 where he served 2 years on Council, and being named Saskatchewan's Youth Citizen of the Year in 2023. Victor is now serving his first term as an active Councillor after previously serving as Youth Councillor. He currently sits on the Occupational Health and Safety, Tourism and Recreation Committees and with his past experience sitting on Council combined with his ambition to contribute largely to his community, he hopes to make a more significant impact in his community this go around and plans to bridge different generations and cultural backgrounds together to work collaboratively towards one goal. He's extremely proud to call Moosomin his home and believes it is a great place to get a start in life and believes many other younger people can call it home too as they transition into adulthood and look for places to settle. He's eager to get to work as he sits on Council and actively seeks any opportunity he can to serve the residents and businesses of Moosomin to the best of his abilities no matter what the concern may be.
